Flat Back Syndrome

OVerview


When there is a loss of curvature in the spine this can be called “Flat back Syndrome”. The human spine has several natural curves which help to absorb and distribute stresses that occur as the body moves. As there is a loss of curvature, sagittal /front-to-back imbalance, which can bring the body's centre of mass forward.


Symptoms


  • Inability to stand up straight

  • Posture is bent forward, head and shoulders slouched forward 

  • Bent hips and knee to maintain an upright posture

  • Fatigue, due to strain on the lower back and leg muscles 

  • Reduced natural spinal curvature 

  • Back pain
